Stage 3: Oberwangen - Fischenthal

Before starting my trekking day I was talking a lot with my 'landlady', the owner of the B&B I was staying in. She is an older lady and apparently spent ten years of her working life in Tanzania in context of international development activities. As I am very much interested in this topic it was just super interesting to talk to her... due to all the talking she nearly forgot an appointment she had around 0900... She was very well taking care of me and my breakfast needs.

The overall day was a little longer than planned as I had to catch up with the part of the trail I skipped yesterday. Crossing the Hörnli 'summit' at about 1137m was a highlight,  although it is not at all the highest mountain on my list.

I am currently following the Swiss National Hiking Route 4 Via Jacobi, in particular the so-called 'Swabian Way' from Constance, Germany to Einsiedeln, Switzerland. Parts of the official trail have apparently been rerouted. Once today I missed the actual trail completely, because signs were missing and the path was so slippery, that I did rather watch my steps than watch out for correct directions. Went down quite a steep descent to then realize, that I was wrong. Had to go back up all the way. Damn.

Anyway, for most of today's hike, there was no rain. It was not sunny either though but rather cloudy. Nevertheless I apparently got myself a slightly sunburned face. lThat is really stupid, because I still have my factor 55 sunblocker from the US with me (thx so much, Nicole), but did not use it.

It did not rain until exactly 1.5km to my final destination. Then all hell broke loose. A terrifying thunderstorm with masses of rain came across the mountain range. I was lucky enough to find some shelter. Had to wait there for about 40mins until I was able to end today's journey in a slightly less intense rain. Yay! for ponchos. From now on my red poncho is my favorite piece of clothing.

Ended the day with some very basic, but rich food at my hotel.

Feet are not hurting any longer,  but now all the rest of my body is kinda sore.
